The U.S. Department of Labor has an office which studies the job market-- the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  It publishs a book called the Occupational Outlook Handbook, as well as a very comprehensive companion website.

Here is the student version-- a little easier to navigate by career type if you aren't sure exactly which profession you are interested in studying:

Suggested Library Database

On the "Databases" page of the library website scroll down to the heading "Miscellaneous Subjects" and you will see a link for "Learning Express"

Once the database opens click "Register" in the upper right corner.

After registering:

1- Move your mouse over the "All Centers" tab at the top of the page and select "Career Center"

2- On the left click the button "Learn more about a career"

3- Select the career strand from the list on the left.
